Developing Your Craft

Start Developing Your Craft Today

As you may have read in my previous post, Finding a Pathway to Peace, I learned how to crochet during a rough time in my family’s life. It was a cross between YouTube tutorials and this book, The Complete Photo Guide to Crochet, that I learned how to crochet. I didn’t take a class and I had no one around me who knew how to crochet. Nonetheless, with determination, drive, a need to succeed, along with overdue fees from my local library I learned.

Many people asked, “How did you do it?” Learned a craft on my own and opened a successful online business. It wasn’t easy but I want you to know you can do the same! Here are three things that I usually tell people when they tell me they want to develop their craft for business:

  1. Decide and make up in your mind that you can learn this craft – and be AWESOME at it.
  2. Don’t get caught up in too many details – thinking too much may stop you from moving forward.
  3. Things don’t happen overnight – but take daily steps towards refining your craft.

It might not be crochet but it could be another craft…sewing, knitting, baking, basket weaving, pottery, soap making, photography, painting, beadwork, blogging…Whatever it is I challenge you to take a step towards developing your craft today! Don’t bog yourself down with the details, just start. Who knows what you start today could be the very first steps that can change your future!
